Cross-border e-commerce time-zone gap, solved by one U.S. number.
Aug 30, 2026
The time-zone gap is not a scheduling problem. It is a trust problem that shows up at the worst possible hour.
What the gap actually looks like
A seller in Shenzhen closes the laptop at 7pm. For a customer in Los Angeles, that is 4am — but the order was placed at 10am their time, and the question is still open. By the time anyone is awake on both sides, the customer has already decided something.
Three things a U.S. number changes
- The customer can call at their own hour and reach something.
- The follow-up text arrives while the question is still warm.
- The ticket is created with a timestamp that matches the customer’s day, not yours.
- typical overlap loss
- of after-hours calls go unanswered
- number closes the gap
Where to start
Start with the hours you are losing, not the hours you are covering. Pull last month’s calls, sort by time, and find the window where volume is highest and coverage is lowest. That window is where the number pays for itself first.
You cannot move your team’s time zone. You can stop making the customer wait for it.
