We tested 100 AI reception calls — the 3 scenarios that fail most often.

Aug 12, 2026

We ran 100 AI reception calls against a live product catalog and scored every one. Three failure patterns accounted for most of the misses.

Failure 1: the question that needs a human

Compatibility and warranty disputes are not reception problems. When the AI tried to resolve them, it produced confident answers that were sometimes wrong. The fix was not a better answer — it was a faster handoff.

Failure 2: two questions in one breath

Callers often ask two things at once. Models tend to answer the first and drop the second. We now force a confirmation step before the call ends.

Failure 3: the number nobody expected

Order numbers read aloud are noisy. Digit-by-digit confirmation cut the error rate sharply.

Most AI reception misses are not language problems. They are handoff problems.

The takeaway

Do not optimize the answer. Optimize the exit. Every call should end in a state someone can act on.
